Pianiste, compositeur suisse, Né en Valais le 22 janvier 1972.

Musicien autodidacte dès son plus jeune âge, il entreprend des études professionnelles à l'Ecole de Jazz de Lausanne en 1990, où il obtient un diplôme de piano.

Il développe un jeu personnel au sein de nombreuses formations acoustiques sur la scène helvétique dont un duo avec le saxophoniste Denis Bertrand. Puis il rejoint le groupe Piano Seven (7 pianos + invités) avec lequel il enregistre 4 albums, et se produit dans les plus grandes salles de HongKong, Sao Paulo, Taipei, Singapour, Beyrouth, Pékin, etc... Il participe à 3 créations du groupe pour lesquels il compose et arrange, notamment à l'occasion de l'exposition nationale suisse en 2002.

Le premier disque paru sous son nom est un album solo : « Rouges » (Altrisuoni 2003), salué par la critique internationale. Il y présente toute la particularité de son jeu de piano à la fois pointilliste et lyrique.

En 2004 il écrit un répertoire pour piano - clarinette basse - saxophone soprano et fonde son propre trio (Yannick Delez Trio) avec Philippe Ehinger (clar. basse) et Stefano Saccon (sax. sopr.) Le groupe est choisi pour la tournée Swiss Diagonales Jazz 07.

En 2004 il forme un Duo avec la chanteuse Chloé Lévy. Le Chloé Lévy Yannick Délez Duo enregistre en décembre 2006 son premier album « Leinicha » au Rainbow Studio d'Oslo avec l'ingénieur du son Jan Erik Kongshaug. « Leinicha » est salué par la critique (Jazzman ****, Télérama ffff).

Parallèlement à la scène, Yannick Delez enseigne le piano et la théorie musicale au sein de l'Ecole de Jazz et Musiques Actuelles de Lausanne (EJMA) depuis 1992, ainsi qu'au Département Jazz du Conservatoire de Lausanne (HEMU) depuis 2006.

Geboren 1972 in der Schweiz fing Yannick Délez als Autodidakt mit dem Klavier an und begann 1990 seine professionelle Ausbildung an der ‚Ecole de Jazz de Lausanne’ die er erfolgreich mit dem Diplom für Klavier im Bereich Jazz Performance abschloß.

Er spielte zunächst mit zahlreichen Ensembles in der Schweizer Jazz-Szene und entwickelte dabei sein ganz eigenes Spiel. Später schließt er sich der Gruppe Piano Seven an, mit der er vier Alben aufnimmt und Konzerte in bekannten Sälen u.a. in Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Taipei, Singapur, Beirut und Peking gibt. In dieser Zusammenarbeit komponiert und arrangiert er verschiedene neue Werke für das Ensemble, u.a. anlässlich der Schweizer Nationalausstellung im Jahr 2002.

Sein erstes Solo-Album (Rouges, Altrisuoni 2003) wird von der internationalen Kritik äusserst positiv besprochen. Es zeigt die ganze Besonderheit seines Spiels, das pointiert und zugleich lyrisch ist. „ ... auf rhythmischen Ostinati und einer wahrlich originalen Spieltechnik ruhend...“ (RSR La Première), „... eine besondere Klangwelt, welche die Lyrik der Romantik und die subtilen Harmonien des Jazz ins Zentrum rücken....“ (Jazzman***). 2004 schreibt er ein großes Werk für Klavier, Baßklarinette und Sopransaxophon und gründet sein eigenes Trio (Yannick-Delez-Trio) mit Philippe Ehinger (Bassklarinette) und Stefano Saccon (Sopran-saxophon). Das Ensemble wird für die Tournee ‚Swiss Diagonales Jazz ‘07’ ausgewählt.

Im sleben Jahr gründet er ein Duo mit der Sängerin Chloé Lévy. Das Chloé Lévy Yannick Délez Duo nimmt sein erstes Album „Leinicha“ 2006 im ‚Rainbow Studio’ in Oslo mit Jan Erik Kongshaug auf. „Leinicha“ wurde von der Musikkritik gefeiert (Jazzman ****, Télérama ffff).

Sein zweites Solo-Album Boréales erscheint 2010 bei dem Label Unit Records. Wieder sind die Kritiker begeistert (Concerto *****, Jazz & More *****) im Zuge dessen gibt Yannick Délez zahlreiche Solo-Konzerte auf verschiedenen europäischen Jazzbühnen.

2011 verlegt er seinen Wohnsitz nach Berlin um u.a. intensiver mit dem Cellisten Marcus Hagemann und der Sängerin Chloé Lévy als Trio zu arbeiten.

Parallel zu seiner Konzerttätigkeit und seiner Arbeit als Komponist lehrt Yannick Délez seit 1992 Klavier und musikalische Theorie an der ‚Ecole de Jazz et Musiques Actuelles de Lausanne’ (EJMA) und von 2006-2012 im Département Jazz am ‚Conservatoire de Lausanne’ (HEMU).

Yannick Délez, pianist-composer born in Martigny, Switzerland in 1972. Self-educated musician from a very young age, he undertakes professional studies at the Ecole de Jazz of Lausanne in 1990 where he obtains a piano diploma.

He develops a personal playing amongst many acoustic groups in Switzerland of which a duo with the saxophonist Denis Bertrand and fully dedicates himself to piano by the age of 23. He then joins the group Piano Seven (7 pianos and guests) with which he records 4 albums and plays in the biggest music halls of Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Taipei, Singapore, Beirut and Beijing among others. He participates in three creations of the group for which he composes and arranges, one of those being an original performance with 7 pianos, percussion, and brass quintet for the Swiss National Exhibition in 2002 directed by Jean-François Bovard.

The first record under his name is “Rouges” (Altrisuoni 2003) a piano solo album that received international acclaim. One can appreciate the particularity of his piano playing in the same time pointillist and lyric. …“based on rhythmical ostinati and a truly original technique…” (RSR La Première), “… a family of thinking favouring romantic lyricism and sophisticated harmonic choices…” (Jazzman***).

In 2004 he composes a repertoire for piano – bass clarinet – soprano saxophone and creates his own trio (Yannick Délez Trio) with Philippe Ehinger (bass clarinet) and Stefano Saccon (soprano saxophone). They are selected for the Swiss Diagonales Jazz 07.

In 2004 he also constitutes a Duo with the singer Chloé Lévy. The Chloé Lévy Yannick Délez Duo records in December 2006 his first album “Leinicha” at the Rainbow Studio in Oslo with the audio engineer Jan Erik Kongshaug. “Leinicha” receives acclaim from international specialised press (Jazzman****. Télérama ffff, Concerto*****).

Alongside with performing, Yannick Délez teaches piano and music theory at the Jazz and Contemporary Music School of Lausanne (EJMA) since 1992 and in the Jazz Department of the Lausanne Conservatory (HEMU) since 2006.
